2023 05 12 – Box 3 Money

1 – YOUR BUSINESS TIP

As we cycle back through the 9 Essential Elements for Business Success (you’ve got your one page master plan for your business haven’t you? – The one page, 9 box ‘Business Success Method’)  – we return to the important cornerstone of your FINANCIALS.

How is your financial health?  And are you looking to improve it – at least a step at a time?
It’s something we do constantly – and it means we stand in a very different place to the one we used to stand in!

I’ve talked before about my horror at how many businesses allow their accountants/professional advisers to ‘set the pace’ of their financials.  And how my horror of that is compounded by how many – perhaps most – accountants follow the pace dictated by HMRC.   To me that’s crazy . . . and it’s so much simpler and way more beneficial for US to set the pace and rhythm in our lives and businesses.

If you’re ready to avoid ‘lastminute dot com’ scenarios, read on and get our free download now.

We don’t want anyone to fall into the trap of ‘I’m ok’, or ‘my accountant sorts it out’ without fully understanding and grasping the responsibilities we have as business owners.  And – of course – it can be much easier and much more rewarding to ‘own’ it yourself.

Solution:

If you’re open to looking at how you can simplify your financials – and create the financial rhythm that’s right for you, with greater clarity on exactly where you are – every month AND each month throughout the year – then claim your copy of our “Financial Checklist” now.

It’s simple 2 part document –

  • what you do EVERY MONTH (checking money in, money out, staying on top of your VAT, Tax and the money that is not yours but belongs to the tax authorities – and needs to be set aside so you’re ready for those bills!).  It’s about making sure you pay your bills on time and that you get paid on time too.
  • what you need to focus on in the CURRENT MONTH – from your list of EACH MONTH.  This is so simple and has made life so much easier for so many business owners.  Once you’ve created this you just scroll to the current month and see what needs your attention.

Nothing gets missed.

  • No ‘last minute’ rushes to get things done
  • No ‘surprise/panic/blame’ experiences.

Instead you get:

  • greater clarity of cashflow
  • peace of mind
  • feeling in control, ready and ‘on top of things’ as a great business owner.

And this is a great time for you to get this – especially for those who (in the UK) have a personal tax year that ends 5th April.  We’re heading towards the time you can prepare your tax returns – say 3 months after the year end.  Imagine having your figures ready in July so your accountant can actually give you great advice!  And well ahead of HMRC’s deadline of January.

Leaving you to get on with managing your business and your life . . . (next week we look at Marketing).

Next Steps:

  1. Follow me – Mary –  on LinkedIn.  Each week I share ONE SIMPLE RESOURCE you can implement to improve your life and business.  https://www.linkedin.com/in/marycollin1/
  2. Download your FINANCIAL CHECKLIST – I updated it recently! – it doesn’t take long to remove what doesn’t apply and customise each part to suit you.  Then get those dates in your calendar.  Even if you think your system is great, what nugget might you pick up from it?
  3. And if you don’t have your own copy of the one page, 9 box “Business Success Method” transparently sharing the Nine Essential Elements for Business Success – claim it here.

2 – YOUR MARKETING/LINKEDIN TIP

This is a post that you can copy today.

It really is a simple one that you can get done in less than 10 minutes.

It’s called the Most” vs. “Great” post.

Here it is:

The idea behind this post is quite simple.

All you need is to choose one thing that relates to your field and topic of expertise, and that you can create a comparison of.

And the comparison simply is, what “most” people do, versus what “great” people do.

You list out a few bullets for each one to explain, and that’s it.

So, for example, if you’re an accountant, it could be something like:

How most people file their tax returns vs. how smart people file their tax returns.

Or, if you’re the CEO of a company, it could be:

How most leaders deal with poor-performing employees vs. how great leaders deal with poor-performing employees.

You get the idea.

What this type of post does is immediately put you as one of those “great” people in your field in the minds of your audience.

Because if you’re posting about it you must be like it as well, right?

So, give it a try. This one honestly shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to write.
